Attendance: Working Together for Your Keiki's Success
Every school day is a building block for your child's education. Each missed day is a block missing from their educational foundation. To help them learn and grow at their best, regular attendance is key. We work as a team – parents, teachers, and the school – to ensure every child gets the most out of each day.
We love to recognize students with perfect attendance! These superstars are celebrated at school assemblies, and we know you are proud to see your child shine.
Here's a quick guide to our school day times:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday: Start 7:48 AM End 1:48 PM
Wednesdays: Start 7:48 AM End 1:08 PM
Let's Talk Attendance:
We understand that unexpected things come up. If your child must miss school, please excuse them online or by calling the office at (808) 313-3800. Here's what happens when there are unexcused absences:
5 unexcused absences: We'll reach out to let you know.
10 unexcused absences: We may involve the counselor or social worker to provide support.
Chronic absences: We'll work with you to understand the situation and may need to involve the Family Court as a last resort.
Hawaii State Law:
In Hawaii, attending school is mandatory for children aged 5-18. We all want your child to succeed, and regular attendance is a big part of that success!
If you have any questions or need help getting your child to school on time, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. We're here to support you and your child's education!
Student Pickup & Drop Off
Option 1: Riding the Bus
It will be necessary to fill out an application quarterly. Ask the office staff for a copy of the bus route - the route changes every year. Confirm pricing - riding the bus is not free. Signup online.
Option 2: Pickup & Drop Off
Parents may also drop off and pickup students themselves.
Drop Off: Drop off begins at 7:15 am every day using a two-lane system to ensure a quick and efficient process. Please avoid switching lanes until after you've dropped off your child to help traffic continue to flow smoothly. School staff assist students during drop-off.
Pickup: Pickup begins at 2 pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. On Wednesdays pick up begins at 1:10 pm. When you pickup your child, you will go to the same location that you dropped off your child. Your child will be waiting for pickup in the cafeteria. Please do not arrive before 2 pm as the gate will be closed. Earlier arrivals block highway traffic, leading to unwanted traffic congestion and frustrating residents. If your child is in an after school program, follow the same procedure at the designated time.
Getting your Child: When you pull up, staff will be there to assist. At the start of the school year, you will receive car tags with your child's name and homeroom teacher to display during pick-up. This speeds up the pickup process because we call your child's name over our speaker system to get them out to you as quickly as possible. Additional tags are available in the office.
