Holualoa Elementary School's Fund Run: Strides for Learning
Holualoa Elementary School's annual Fund Run is a fundraiser arranged by our incredible Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). Students from all grade levels participate, running or walking while families, teachers and fellow students cheer them on. There is a balloon arch, music pumping and a wonderful spirit of camaraderie in the air. Fund Run combines physical activity, fundraising, and school spirit into one high octane day of fun for our school community.
How Does Fund Run Work?
In the first few weeks of school, your child will receive a fundraising packet from the PTO. It contains detailed instructions on how to ask for sponsors for your personal fund run best. Make it fun and ask your ohana and friends to help support and challenge you to do as many laps as possible and support our school!
On the day of Fund Run, your child will receive a special Fund Run t-shirt that they can enjoy all school year long. We celebrate our school spirit every Wednesday by wearing our Fund Run t-shirts.
On the day of Fund Run, students will go down to the field by classes to run as many laps as they can in five minutes. Their laps are recorded by PTO volunteers. Afterwards they receive a treat and time in the cool down tent.
After the fun of the initial day, students need to collect their pledge money and bring the money back to school in a special envelope. PTO volunteers count the cash and checks and tally students with the highest lap totals and the highest donation totals. Prizes are awarded in a celebratory assembly and every student enjoys an ice cream party with their class. Top student earners and top lap runners are both recognized, making sure all student contributions are celebrated.
Where Does the Money Go?
Our passionate PTO is a 501C3 non profit that directly supports your child’s classroom. Your donations go to help with:
Classroom resources such as books for classroom libraries, technology or classroom supplies.
Supporting field trips and educational programs PTO encourages every grade level to plan a field trip each year if possible. Transportation is often the most expensive part of hands-on learning experiences.
Investing in school infrastructure like playground equipment, library upgrades or special programs like our gardening and special class offerings.
The Holualoa Fund Run welcomes participation from the broader community. Local businesses sponsor the event, showcasing their support for education and offering refreshments, prizes and making it a special day for students and staff alike.
Holualoa Elementary School's Fund Run goes beyond raising funds. It promotes physical activity, celebrates school spirit, fosters community engagement, and ultimately supports the educational journey of its students. This annual tradition serves as a testament to the collective effort of the school community in creating a vibrant and enriching learning environment.
